Greeks are closer genetically to Serbs than to Spaniards, do you think they look it too? Genetics =/= phenotype.

With that said I do think you can say southern Italians look more like West Asians, than Spaniards look like West Asians.

Yeah, and the Spanish Tercio soldiers fucked all the Italian women during the Spanish occupation of the Italian peninsula (more than 500 years).

That is why a lot of Spanish surnames exist in Italy today.

    Not true:

Wow they're all peaking in Southern Iberia where the main concentration of Roman settlement is!!! Makes sense considering Andalucians and Extremadurans score the highest Tuscan related ancestry on nMonte by far.

They're not the majority, but thats not the point. The point is that their presence and distribution is further evidence, along with the autosomal modelling and formal genetic papers, that modern Iberians do have significant ancestry from a Italian/Tuscan-like source, consistent with the massive population increase in Iberia during the Roman period and the density of settlement in Iberia.

No, it is not an evidence. Saying "they are not the majoriy" does not make justice. It is absolutely residual haplogroups in Spain.

    I wouldn't call 5-10%, 5-10%/10-15% and 3-5%/6-8% "residual".

There is no denying Iberians (excluding Basques) have Anatolia_BA-related ancestry at this point, and the upcoming Oalde et al paper states it came in the last 2500 years and that Iron Age Iberians were Basque-like. This ancestry has to be explained by some relatively recent event, and considering between 14AD and 164AD the Iberian population increased by 50% whilst urbanised regions like Italy, Greece and the Levant had only increased in population by ~10%, there was significant Roman settlement in Iberia and Tuscan-related ancestry in Iberia correlates strongly with Roman settlement, migration primarily from Central Italy and the mediation of Anatolia_BA like ancestry through a HGDP Tuscan-like population makes a lot of sense.
