Earlier there were no cases like this .... at all ....so those people who have created the laws (incl. determinate what is rape) have not even thought that cases like this would/could ever be possible. For sure they would had protected kids (their position) much better if they had had any thoughts that anything like this could ever happened in Finland. Honestly kids rights are one the best in Finland ... even against their own parents.

Unfortunately changing the existing laws will not happen fast & easy enough. The problem of real democracy! Plus with this topic....some people would start ask: Why needs change it now? Politicians and political parties which have been supported EU's immigration policy ... would need to answer some unpleasant tricky questions. Same in Sweden.

And what comes to courtroom ... it simply followed the law letter by letter. As wrong as the outcome really sounds now. Still Finland is a constitutional state. If the laws sucks .... it is faults of those people who have created the laws, not court of justice which simply follows those laws.

1- Assuming the whole story is real, he was convicted of aggravated sexual assault - which isn't nothing.

2- According to Finnish law, "rape" requires that the victim fights back or resists, and the girl didn't. So if anything, it's an issue with Finnish legal definitions. But any chance to beat the "Muslims are bad and rapey" racist drum, I guess. If it had been a Finn who'd done the exact same thing, the exact same sentence would likely have been given, for exactly the same reasons. This case doesn't have anything to do with migrant status whatsoever (oh boy, I've just read on a bunch of neo-nazi new sites that this man was given a lighter sentence because of "multiculturalism" or some garbage like that ). Now, do I agree that it shouldn't be classed as "rape"? No. But I'm not the arbiter or what Finnish law is. Take it up with the Finnish legislators.
