...Yeah I'm sure Western Europeans have more claim to the Bosphorus than Turks(who are mostly native Anatolians with rather minor real Turkic admixture anyway)

It has nothing to do with the genetics, but with the Islamic, oriental culture, and the oppressive atmosphere toward Christians.

Only through war. If Europe wins they get it back, but the question are you going to assimilate the locals into the European traditions or force them out. Genocide is never the answer. Since books and various media outlet will never let it die. There is no easy way to get it back and it has dawned for nearly 500 years. A war with Turkey will certainly create more unrest in the Balkans and the Middle East, something that most people don't want to see again. The question is very complex and so are the answers. However it's best not to interfere with it as it can lead to much hellish world than there is already. Turkey is also not Iraq or Afghanistan which have been crippled by ethnic tensions and various wars with foreign powers, and it's a Near Eastern superpower in it's own right.

He has a point. It's better to have large numbers of Serbs, Greeks, Russians, etc. move to Eastern Thrace in large numbers and establish communities and form militias/private armies. They should also outbreed the Turks. The Orthodox reconquerors could learn a thing or two from the Mexicans and the Kosovar Albanians.

It is with Constantinople that the Hellenes finally lost their place as arbitrator of civilization and philosophy. It was with the loss of Constantinople that we lost one of the greatest European races ever to grace this planet. The loss set us back by many hundreds of years. Who knows what might have come to be hadn't the Hellenes fell to the Ottoman Turks. The Greek fire would've been common knowledge by today. The Hellenes would have become as numerous as the Italians or Germans today. Greece today is nothing but a shadow of its former self with ruins numerous calling to the past long forgotten in the minds of modern Greeks.

The population of the Greeks stagnated during the Ottoman rule allowing them to steadily grow larger than the Greeks and it wasn't until the 20s to the present day their population boomed and outpaced the Greek population.

No Balkan country can realistically win a war against Turkey even if there was a 21st century Balkan League.
