Yeah, my dad is a Greek Australian, born here and my mum is South Indian born in India but raised here. I do find there is a divide with most groups, like the newer immigrants vs the ones who came much earlier.

Latin American immigrants are overlooked here since there are so many bigger migrant groups but I have noticed more of them nowadays, Brazilian, Chileans and Argentinians.

There is a huge Italian community here, aside from those of Anglo-Celtic heritage, Italian ancestry is the most common European ancestry for Australians I think, they are about as numerous as Chinese in Australia but most of them are at least 2-3rd generation. Yes, people stereotype them and Greeks that way but I think now the attention has been diverted to other migrant groups, and Italians are seen as assimilated for the most part. Although funnily enough, many of them I know are usually super proud and I even see people with Italian flags in their front yard.

Yes, but Whites aren't the majority in Brazil (and never have been), yet make up the bulk of people you see on TV, in magazines and in films. Anyway, one reason why I think my hypothesis might eventually prove to be true is that (although I might be wrong) I don't think that the Chinese in particular, and East Asians in general, have quite the same complexes regarding light skin and European facial features that many South Asians, MENAs and non-white Latin Americans do.
