Wrong.
Don't you know that Ger. Furt means "ford", a river crossing?
The Italian word for it is guado, from Lat. vadum and an old IE root that is still present in North Germanic (a ford is in Danish en vadsted).
Frankfurt would translate in Italian as "Guado Franco".

You are right.. i have transleted "furt" as Forte in Latin.. but forte(ezza) in latin is castrum or praesidium.

Frank comes from roman name of local popolation..

Anyway Frankfurt also was founded by ancient Romans..
