Parts of Mexico City are fine, as is some of the resort areas. There has been a problem with resort workers spiking booze. They serve it to resort guests and people get sick, go to hospital. Then the hospital give the person a large bill/invoice. If you don't pay you don't leave. In large measure a no go zone for Gringos.

Meh, tourists are warned not to wander away from the resorts for fear of being robbed or kidnapped. Wouldn't be caught dead there.
