I eat some mushroom meals around autumn when they grow in the German forests. Steinpilze, Rotkäppchen, Maronen and Pfifferlinge.

I don't eat mushrooms. I don't like the taste and the feeling on my tongue, it feels just like eating snails!
By the way I gathered mushrooms at least a pair of times, when I was in the alps, with an experienced hunter (friend of mine) who has a good knowledge of them, I instead was the annoying guy constantly asking things about mushrooms.

Mushrooms, even if their nutritional value is poor, taste more or less OK. But, at Spain, are a ridiculous trend in restaurants as a cheap way to an expensive bill for customers.

About toxicity, Id say some of the most toxical ones (capable of destroying your hepatic organ to the point you just could be saved by a transplant) could be easily pass as eatable ones. In fact, months ago, foreigners in Spain got intoxicated to that point. One died.
