No Assyrians are quite distinct. North Iraqi Arabs are diverse because they can be Arabized Kurds, Arabized Turkmens, and Arabized Assyrians, and of course Bedouin tribal groups. For example many Bedouins in northern Iraq, migrated once the main clans of their tribes adopted Shiaism. Well Southern Iraqi Arab shias are mostly of Bedouin stock, but have converted to Shiaism quite recently once they settled. Also there was significant Persian/Iranian migration to Najaf and Karbala where these people were Arabized but have known their origin. They were called Tabyiah.

Iraq due to the Mongol invasion was depopulated. According to the chronicles, those who survived the Mongol destruction, left to Egypt and India. Also Iraq was not Desert originally, but the Mongol invasion made it into a desert and later Bedouin Arab tribes migrated into the 15th century and this when Iraq became repopulated. However it also became geopolitical struggle between the Sunni Ottomans and the Shia Safavids.

The Muslim population was totally massacred, and only the Christian population was spared, simply because the wife of Hulgu Khan was a Christian herself. However this rampage of carnage would be stopped by the Mamlukes, both Baibars and Qutuz had deep grudge against the Mongols. Qutuz was described as swarthy and looked like the modern people of Iran, well Baibars was blond and blue eyed. They were slaves to the Mongols, who sold them to the Ayyubids in Egypt. It was this grudge that eventually made them able to crush the Mongols, after this defeat Hulgu was humiliated and it gave him pain, and according to the chronicles he passed away in Iran, either by suicide or deep depression.

Highly informative. I still believe the Iraqi Arab population is mostly indigenous Mesopotamian.

Neither of you are correct, Northern Iraqi Arabs are also highly Iranic-shifted. I have not seen a single Arab get Assyrian as a close match on gedmatch. As an example

    Iraqi Baghdad

Are you that dumb? Check the mixed mode, they don't get Assyrian + something else. But Iranian + Bedouin/Syrian creating a superficial resemblance to us Assyrians. Look at the distance to the fucking Assyrian sample. It's time to realize modern day Iraqi Arabs have little to nothing to do with ancient Mesopotamia. They are Iranian + Arabian.

What is it that you don't understand with the mixed mode? Tell me what goes through your mind when you see this:

    5 59.3% Bedouin + 40.7% Iranian @ 3.93

    3 59.3% Syrian + 40.7% Iranian @ 3.62

    4 60.2% Kurdish + 39.8% Bedouin @ 2.81

That they are mixed with Assyrians + what? None of these get Assyrians in the mixed mode and it's pretty easy to understand why. If they were mixed with Assyrians it would show that, and not Bedouin, Syrian or Palestinian.

They're not mixed with Assyrians, they share partial common ancestry

And why doesn't it show in these people? There are many other Iraqi Arab Gedmatch kits and few get Assyrian in their mixed mode, but instead often Iranian + Bedouin. Matching pretty well with what we know happend after the Mongol invasion.

You're taking mixed mode way too literally. According to my eurogenes oracles, I am 95% North Dutch and 5% Tajik despite being a British-German mix.
For example, I almost never get English or German in my mixed mode despite having documented and significant ancestry from both countries.
