Albania rejects refugee camps building on her soil

Albanians are leaving Albania out of poverty for the west and can't take care of their own let alone take refugees. My village is almost depopulated. Most people have left for work in Germny and other countries, you want Syrian refigees to replace them?

Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama refused to allow camps for migrants rescued at sea to be built in the country as proposed by the European Union.

“We will never accept those camps for European refugees,” he told German magazine Bildt adding that this would mean “unloading desperate people who no one wants, anywhere like toxic waste”.

The European Union has announced plans to set up centres for migrants rescued at sea on the territory of member states and other countries to avoid diplomatic arguments. The idea has been included in the draft conclusions of an EU summit at the end of June in Brussels. EU Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship Dimitris Avramopoulos said Albania and Tunisia have been mentioned as possible sites for the centres.

“The refugee crisis should be resolved independently of our efforts to join the EU,” Rama is quoted as saying a day after the EU decided to open pre-accession negotiations with Albania in mid-2019. http://rs.n1info.com/a399484/English...n-Albania.html

Of course eu will pay for them. Its much cheaper than holding them in germany or sweden, where there living costs are 10 times that of an albanian. But the problem is, that albania is not much better than the countries they themselves fled from.

EU will pay for them and Albanian corrupt politicians will put that money into their bank accounts, buy houses the size of a castle, cocaine , whores and whatnot... if they actually spend that money good like building the country up then taking them in could have benefits but they don't need to take in refugees en masse for that

Jobs are created to take care of them. Never forget that our contractors build the camps and cater the food. Clean and everything you can think of. We actually need to have that camp.

Politicians are out of the deal on this one, and thats probably why it didnt get through.
