You may have a point, but I'm not to blame if international stereotypes about Spaniards are more based on Andalusians than on (northern) Castilians.

Constant disagreeing with Spanishness after three centuries is not victimism, just the right of not wanting to be assimilated. As the motto of the Catalans says: 'We were, we are and we shall be'. If it wasn't because of Catalonia, Spain would be like France these days, an übercentralized Castilian state with a few Basques and Galicians speaking what they'd consider "patois". And no present Comunidad Autónoma would enjoy the privileges they have now. It is soo cool to accuse the Catalans of victimism because they're the first to complain and demand, and once we achieve our claims, all the others copy us at once. Victimists? We're the ones who show our faces.

I don't put them together. Spaniards = Castilians (including Andalusians, the Novísima Castilla). --Although I recognize there's a huge difference between northern Castilians and Andalusians.

I guess you consider Basques and Catalans from France as Spaniards too...

Mäc Geiz is the name of a discounter chain. Geiz means greed and connotes the cheap prizes.

If a shop like that opened in America, they would probably be sued for defamation and slander. So much for the freedom of speech that America is always stereotyped as having.

Maybe there just aren't enough Scots in Germany, or the Scots there don't care. But even the U.S. has its greedy/stingy fictional Scots - Scrooge McDuck comes to mind. I suppose if they'd called it "Geizberg" & used a Jewish-looking fellow, it might not have gone over so well in Germany.

True. but offending Jews wouldn't go over too well in most places nowadays

in Italy exists stereotypes about people of each region

we sardinians are often stereotyped from the italians to be headstrong, distrustful, reserved, touchy, respectful, generous, loyal, taciturn, rancorous, vindictive, deeply attached to our land, cordial but icy towards the strangers.
other stereotypes about us that i have heard: we are all shepherds (in sardinia lives 4millions of sheeps and 1million and a half of people), heavy drinkers and all sardinian girls are showgirls or models.
