People with Celtic ancestry more open to Country Music?

Well cross cultural music is genius and does not apply to one culture. My grandmother did belly dancing I.used to play with her castanettes and any Arabic culture that makes it's way to us like Algebra, belly dancing or 1001 Nights exceeds their culture. Like Highwayman.

Its very difficult to say you liked John Deere Greene, as a favorite song, if you grew up in Seattle. JDG is actually sadly one of our better peasant tunes capturing a place in time. But seriously since 2005 have you soberly liked a country song that didn't involve Allison Krause? After Keith Whitley died the South became one enormous butt of a Wal Mart joke. Pop Country vs real Country, though. Although Pop Country sounds good if done right. The new stuff just is poor lyrically. And it isn't even remotely Country.

It's very unusual for me to meet anyone with that ancestry who doesn't like at least some country. Most of the anti-Country music snobs tend to be the Germanic or Italiante peoples- Slavs, and ethnics in general.
That's probably why Country Music isn't as popular in the northern United States where more of these ethnic types live.
To me, Country is really the only genre of music that truly matters, besides perhaps Classical and Folk.

Some of My favorite Country artists: Michael Martin Murphy, Patsy Cline, John Denver, The Louvin Brothers, Johnny Cash, Bobby Lord, Marty Robbins, George Jones, The Carter Family, and some of the Hank Williams Sr.
And then I like some of the Pop Country of the early 1990s, but won't go past 1995.

What gives me great Pride is Patsy Cline is from Winchester, Virginia!
