Is the term "homosexuality" offensive to gay people?

I know many gay people don't like being called "a homosexual", but do they feel the same way about "homosexuality"? (Used to describe sexual orientations, i.e. "The four sexual orientations are heterosexuality, homosexuality, bisexuality, and asexuality")

I'm sure many gay people don't mind the term "homosexual" or being called that. Not sure where you heard about that. After all, they are homosexuals, just like blacks are black, whites are white and the sky is blue.

However, using it in a negative context can be offensive. For instance, "go away, you homosexual" may not sound very cordial and it indeed has a surly connotation to it.
