No not ridiculous but an example of this forum's commitment to viewing issues of culture and ethnicity in a manner which is pertinent to real people. My understanding is that Cornish people are just as proud of their culture as are the Welsh, Irish, Scots and English. So why shouldn't there be a sub-forum?

As an English nationalist I asked for there to be a sub-section.

I do not consider the Cornish or Cornwall to be English or a part of England.

I find it 'utterly ridiculous' that nationalists hide their eyes towards other national causes.

The Cornish are not good enough to pass for English.

Hmmm. If that was so, other ethnicities much larger and with many more posts would have one since looong ago.

    Yes and no.

There is obviously a Cornish ethnicity, one that has a traditional homeland and language, which deserves attention. On the other hand, most people in Cornwall consider themselves (are) English, speak English, and are in no way different to their neighbours in Devon/the West Country generally. In truth, there are (unfortunately) very few 'Cornish people' actually in existence. Though the revived interest in the Cornish language can only be good.

    So you know, meh...

I will say though, overall, the level of understanding of the Cornish/English situation from non-British Islanders and even some BIs natives is shocking and comical. I'm reminded of the maps you see posted around here from time to time (generally in discussions about re-drawing borders etc) that feature an independent Cornwall, as if the people in St Ive and the people in Dartington are actually foreigners to each other or something.

No this IS so. With respect Ibex, just because Catalan and Quebec do not have their own sub-forum does not mean that this forum is not committed to having such. You have to remember that some sub-forums were created at the inception of this forum, at a time when you were not a member here. That they were created during the early years of The Apricity's being does not make them any less valid or important.

If other sub-forums are desired, it is up to those cultural and ethnic groups to broach the subject with the forum owners and then for Foxie and Loki to assess the need and/or desire for such a forum to exist here. There is no magic formula otherwise.

Is there going to be a sub-forum for every region in England?
