I can recognize a British look when I see it a lot of the time and I can usually tell when someone looks eastern Euro, but that's about it.



I've also noticed it's usually central Europeans who look most similar to white Americans.

It completely depends upon where you live and the kind of ethnicities that you are most familiar with.

Nowadays it may be difficult because of heavy mixing, but I think if you're from, say, an industrial part of a big Northern city where everyone used to be from Eastern and Southern Europe, and you suddenly end up in the South, you're definitely going to notice the more Anglo or WASPy people. But that's only if you pay attention.

Where I'm from in Chicago, I think most (non-Hispanic White) people can discern a Pole from a German from and English or French person and so on, and those of us from more ethnically "pure" backgrounds (say, mixed Slavic) can still distinguish a Russian from a Pole, etc...

I think the bigger issue is having very little exposure to Europeans

Some are easier to see than others but of course you can.

All European Nations are made up of various racial types. A French Nordic type will look more similar to an English Nordic type than to a French Alpine for example. No European ethnic group has a look exclusive to itself.
