Today I...placed my England flag out of the front window. I then went on my weekend duty of ensuring the elderly members of my family were content and happy in the world we have created for them to die in.
I painted my nan's shed dark brown to protect the shed from the elements to come. I made some joke about how England had been painted dark brown to ensure the elements were able to disease what was once solid English oak.
We didn't laugh. My nan regaled me with tales of how it once was.
