it happens in Romania a lot too. when I was a child I always (really very often) the neighbour chasing his wife in the dirt road and throwing the pitchfork or some hatchet towards her. also my godfather's grandpa had seriously injured his wife in the shoulder with a pitchfork. all happened in Moldova region, which is said to be a bit backward compared to the rest.
