When it comes to a relationship, going out or married, how far does your jealousy go? sometimes I have observed that some supposedly married members in this forum are flirting or being too intimate with opposite genders. Of course I won't name them, and I am not blaming them of cheating or anything, but I ask to myself; "how'd I react myself?"

I admit, even though I'm a western-minded liberal guy, I can't really get it off my soul. This is not a really trust issue, but a rather reflexive reaction. In such cases, I would just be uncomfortable. It is just a bodily reaction, like erection, it's something out of your control. Maybe it is something that is embedded in me by blood, since it is well-known that Turkish men are quite possessive. In fact, girls, at least Turkish ones, seem to like it too since it makes them feel being embraced or 'claimed'. In cases where the guy does not care, they just feel unsheltered.

For example, sometimes I see in American movies where a guy makes sexual jokes about his friend's wife or even goes as far as saying how it would be great to bang her and our guy either shrugs it off or only responds with a light 'hey'. And I'm like, "what the fuck is wrong with you dude, If I were in your place I'd break his neck". Of course, not literally, but I'd at least put him in coma, maybe, depends on how angry I get at that moment. I even get jealous if I see someone checking out my girl in the street or especially on the beach and in many cases I'd warn the guy to fuck off. And it makes me realize, even though I feel CLOSER to American culture in terms of free way of life and liberalism, I'm still an inch off, and remember I am a Turk after all.

I'm not all that liberal here. For me, my girl is in my care, I'm automatically sacrificial and protective.

Being a little bit jealous/possessive is normal. It's when it becomes obsessive than it is not... you either lack of self esteem or have trust issues with your partner, in that case why staying with him/her? A relationship is based on trust, if there is no trust, there is no couple...

I don't think it's related to culture though or being liberal, most "sane" people from any cultures are a little bit jealous/possessive when involved in relationships, the way they will show it will differe depending on their personnality & culture though, you are right about that. In "Eastern" & Mediterannean cultures, men & women are very demonstrative in that matter, that's true

It was not that because my boyfriend wanted it. Tbh he kinda cheated on me (he stayed at a girl’s home for a day and i did not know that) so we broke up 3 months ago, you can guess his opinions on “jealousy” it was just what i felt here so i decided to left here many times. Guess who could not stay away from here and turned back many times
