No, they are not!!! They are lighter than Europeans living south of them. With Europeans living Europeans living around the same latitude, they are similar. Northern Germans are similar to the Dutch, South - Eastern English, Northern Poles, etc... with small differences here and there. I am not saying that they are identical either.

I've been to germany many times. Mainly around the center west part, Dusseldorf to Dortmund. From my point of view the ethnic germans are what I expected. Girls like the one above are more common among the middle and upper class germans.


When in Hamburg the people were noticeably more Scandinavian looking and were more laid back than those in the south.


It's funny to see the dark haired famous types being talked about on this thread. Ballack, Louw etc. They're not unusual for Germany but not the norm.

Real black hair is rather rare among native Euros. Generally, the darkest European hair shade is espresso brown, which shows brown and dark-red highlights. True black hair looks midnight (extremely dark blue) in sunlight. In the case of negroids, you have "dead black".

Espresso brown is actually noticeably lighter, I'd say very dark brown is the darkest European hair can get. An off-black shade is most common in places like Greece or Sicily.
