I think many Brit Islanders look very similar to many people I've seen in Northern Spain, but mostly rural Spaniards, for some reason.
Here's a funny thing; I was in Rome recently, sitting in a bar (or at a table outside, more specifically) and I saw 2 women looking around at the people as if they wanted to ask someone something. Most of the people around me were Polish (the beautification of Pope John Paul II was on at the time) and other Eastern Europeans, a small number of people were Italian. Well after a short while the women came to me and asked me something in Spanish (neither of them could speak English, as it turned out, so I couldn't speak to them anyway). I was quite surprised. Now, I don't look Spanish, but I suppose given the option of asking me (I'm assuming it was for directions ) or asking the other people around me something in Spanish, I looked like the best bet. Personally, I don't feel too odd looking when in some parts of Spain, for the most part its the way I dress/present myself that sets me apart so much there.
