They're not necessarily ugly but just average for the most part, but there are so many men in western countries who've been pushed out of the dating market due to high female standards nowadays that you end up with a bunch of guys settling for women that are less than ideal. The guys who tend to fetishize Asian girls tend to be nerds and betas, same for Indian females.

In terms of aesthetics, I don't have any especial attraction towards East Asians (but something I do find sexy, is their (according to my impression) intelligence).
A woman that I could have intellectually satisfying conversations with, would attract me.

Honestly this is just an excuse they make for themselves, southeast Asians actually have IQs which are lower than 100.
