5 Stages of Grief:
Denial: The initial stage: "It can't be happening." Maniot is on top of me.
Anger: "Why ME? It's not fair?!" (either referring to God, oneself, or Maniot perceived, rightly or wrongly, as "responsible")
Bargaining: "Just let me stay to post another day Maniot, please."
Depression: "I'm so sad, why are you picking on me Maniot?"
Acceptance: "It's going to be OK." There is always Skadi.

Putin combats the awful American hegemonists by running a corrupt gangster state that arms Venezuela and Communist China while invoking anti-hate legislation that even Obama wouldn't try on a GDP not greatly higher than Holland's. Surely you people can come up with a better standard bearer than THIS guy?

No question, I'd support the reunification of Germany and Austria at any time, it's a basic position of the German right. Same people, same language and same blood belong into the same state/country. As a matter of fact, if the ones who brought us democracy would accept democratic decisions then they wouldn't have undone the result of the fully democratic referendum about the Anschluss carried out in 1938.
Depends. Most Austrian towns are messed up like the German countparts. Have a trip to Vienna or Linz.
Listen, Germany is made up of different German tribes united together to one. The Bavarians and Austrians belong to the same German tribe when we look at them by means of ethnogenesis science. Hence if Bavarians are German, which they're, then Austrians are Germans in the same fashion.Maybe Bavaria splitting off and joining Austria would make more sense.
Says who? The pathetic snake in the grass, pathologically adverse to strong ethnic national states? Up yours. Guys like you have no say when people start to decide about their own fate.
Besides such rather meaningless reasons like national self-determination and shared history, huh? Truth be told, I'm not interested in quantifying how much abuse your imperialist arse is built for, but your posts reek like sunbaked asshole. Tell me, what kind of prick idiot are you?
What's more important than national self-determination, Butterdick Joe? And more importantly, what's the reason for your attendance in this board? Puking your anti-European rants all over the place. Now I can see why Skadi decided to make short shrift of you. One point more in their favor. And an example for imitation. It is a fetish of German chauvinists, Nazis of all nationalities, and idealists who think national self-determination is some kind of sacred writ.

No. It would upset the balance of power in Europe. If Germany would leave the EU then I think that the balance of power is our primary concern and I would be in favour of returning to a West and East Germany and a strictly enforced Austrian neutrality (basically the pre-1989 situation without communism in the East, a "West Berlin- situation" (as Berlin will be in East Germany) or a Berlin wall).
If Germany would be part of Europe then the balance of power wouldn't be so important as it would be the very core of the continent and the EU. And I think that some Austrian conservatism might actually enrich and redevelop German culture.. so why not. They are one people and they ought to be one -- as long as they will not threaten their neighbours (which I why I prefer division if Germany is not in the EU).
Wake up and smell the coffee.

Yawn. Is it possible to have a discussion about Germany and speak of it in anything less than a worshipful tone without fanatical German nationalists and fascists coming out of the woodwork with their low, vulgar insults?

I support it, I love Austria as much as Germany, I want its mountains with their crazy nightclubs.
The reason why both are not yet unified is simply due to a mere geopolitical fact.

Thanks to all values that you puked on us with their bases here. Since the Federal Republic of Germany until 1990 had been an American construction being an artificial state with no German soul in itself. Austria have been just lucky to have remained neutral since 1945 without any invading troops on its soil.
Even the former DDR a hardcore communist state remained heavily ethnocentric, even more than Austria in overall, being a culturally Protestant society, just to exemplify this for those who wrongly associate Protestantism with liberal values.

Germany should be grateful it was allowed to reunify at all. Only a country as benevolent as America would have allowed it... And Austria's neutrality was bought by American arms. It would have been impossible without the US presence in Europe.

Germany should be very grateful indeed and thank the Russians on a daily bases that it was because of them being a bunch of fools that West Germany was allowed to be rehabilitated and even ended up being a key member of NATO and one of the founding fathers of the European Economic Community and it's predecessor and, it was already before the reunification (which we allowed to happen as well) is now one of the richest countries on the entire continent and an equal amongst equals with an edge over the rest of us because of it's size, economy and size of it's population because we have put our faith in them and extended our hand after all that has happened.
Germany - learn this sentence by heart and say it every day when having breakfast, lunch, dinner and before going to bed: "Thank you, dear neighbours.. for trusting us again."
(France, that had pulled some very crazy shit in the 17th, 18th and 19th century was mistrusted and hated for generations by all of Europe).
Wake up and smell the coffee.
