How to deal with psychopathic/manipulative/insane people

People who would make up rumors or lies about you and then others would believe it? What do you do about them? I have been in a position before where I was attacked by such people and no one supported me. Its always good to have friends but if you dont have them then what?

Sometimes, the only thing you can do is keep standing on your own two feet and fighting.

I was in this position a few times. Idk if it’s I’m conditioned towards withstanding insane amounts of psychological abuse or what, but it gets so bad that you start to question your reality and dissociating from it.

I guess some questions to ask yourself is if it’s worth even bothering those people about in terms of clearing your name, or just ignore them completely? Sometimes, I’d confront people and look them directly in the eyes and ask why they believe it’s true.

Sometimes, people will take the time to form their own opinions. I feel like it really depends on who the players are to the game, and if they are even important enough to clarify yourself and your stance to.

I think that being a nice person helps. At least superficially. People are less likely to believe you did X, Y, Z thing if you have a good reputation. But of course that is dependent on if you're around people who are actually willing to support you in case shit goes down. Too often thats not the case.

Ive also learned to become very apathetic towards people. Aside from a few triggers that get me very riled up its hard to anger me at least on the internet. But real life may be different as im very irritable, oftentimes accompanied with violent impulses.

Maybe Im overthinking this but I want to play it safe for the above reason(my instability).

I have had my share of experiences with such people and I sadly still do have to deal with them. If you can - run away from them and cut your ties, you won't fix them. Arguing or even politely discussing with them will make them aggressive or passive agressive more than everything. It can be though hard to resist the temptation. They were though more manipulative than psychopathic.
