Why American accents are easy to understand while British accents are hard to understand?

For me it's just the opposite.

It’s the opposite for me. Americans generally swallow their words so it makes everything much more complicated to understand.

The Irish indeed are very distinct when it comes to the English accent..the same also goes for the Scottish people too. The Southern redneck Americans have a very cool accent in my opinion.
