    Probably can understand more Russian than any other Slavic language which is not South Slavic apart from Slovenian.

    Can Slavic speakers understand this Macedonian sentence?
    Something along the lines of: I do not change water for anyone, something shower and I will wash you like an egg. How off am I?

    I disagree. Russian and Ukrainian languages are almost the same grammatically and they share a lot of vocabulary. So, even if they in Ukrainian news now try to chose words that are different from Russian ones, a good share of words are still the same.

    I've never learnt Ukrainian purposefully, but I understand some mostly thanks to my watching an Ukrainian humoristic show Faina Ukraina (it's not the one where used to star their current president, lol).

    I think if you know Russian well, you already know most of Ukrainian (just pick a few hundreds of words and you're there). And if you know Russian and Polish well, you already know Ukrainian pretty well too.

    This was the reason I once took a few lessons of Slovak I thought if I knew Slovak I'd be in much better terms with the rest of Slavic languages. It was quite cool and easy.

    @Pribislav

    But the great hero, the immortal Karadzordze, had many obstacles on his path, the great guys reach the goal:
    upbringing the people, baptizing the land, destroying barbarian chains,
    from the dead he calls upon the Serbs,
    blowing life to the Serbian soul...

    Yeah, the Slavic languages all have pretty much identical grammar, with some cases missing or added from language to language.
