I also don't recall any portuguese member commenting on their authenticity and representativeness, quite the contrary.

According to general opinion they have a significant overlap with Iberians, but in real life the differences are rather obvious. Someone like Zidane can fit in many parts of Europe not just in Spain, and those who can pass in Spain will pass in other regions of Europe as well.
