Racially they were off course lighter than any Balkan native.
Todays South Slavs absorded huge amount of native(dark) Balkan blood s0 they got darker...looked more southern like Greeks and Albanians though lots of them still can pass among far north.

So 'dark' South Slavs are not slavic origin but native balkanian.

I know The Apricity anthropomorphized is in a particularly small bubble and oddly obsessed with race,and that there are certain norms that are dogmatic and therefore necessary to follow (not to say they don't have any basis). But in the real world, there are literally millions of dark Ukranians, Poles, and Russians (I've seen plenty of them). I myself was classified as Dinaro-pontid in this forum, do you know how many times in the real world I was guessed by Russians and Poles themselves, as one of them?
My friend from northern Albania looks not just blonde and blue eyed and tall, but a Germanic kind of blonde and blue eyed, would you believe he got 99.8% Balkan in his 23andme test and is Ev-13? It seems the Slavs weren't so generous to his genetics.

I don't know if you're trolling (hopefully), but even amongst more darker populations such as in Madagascar, there are native inhabitants, unmixed, with naturally blonde hair, let alone amongst Greeks and Albanians where there is more variation in eye and hair color.

I hope this isn't in reference to me (seeing as you quoted this specific response). Anyone with a minimal reading comprehension could see that I was merely arguing that there were Albanians who had lighter features and were without Slavic influence, rather than that Albanians were pale lords (some would say one member as an instance though wouldn't constitute some).

I"m "lightish" (whatever that means), certainly not "swarthy" and don't look Slavic at all. I have a number of relatives who are blonds/redhead blue eyed types and bear the genetics of neolithics (G2A) Personally I have Neolithic, IE and EHG as do a great many "true" mainland Greeks. But I could care less about phenotype. When it comes down to it genetics are really the only thing that matters.

Oh and btw there is evidence that Neolithics introduced the "light skinned" allele into Europe around 7000 bc (Thessaly).
