    Default Blood of the Irish

    Blood of the Irish

    About the Series

A two-part documentary series that seeks the truth about the Irish.

Broadcaster Diarmuid Gavin travels to the heart of Africa and beyond in a quest to find the very origins of the Irish people. Who are the Irish and whose blood flows in our veins?

A landmark series for RTÉ One, Blood of the Irish explores the most fundamental questions about the Irish population; who were the first people to settle here and where did they come from? Why are the oldest Irish human remains less than 10,000 years old when just 100 kms away in Britain, human traces go back 700,000 years? Did the first Irish arrive overland on an ice bridge, or on a small fragile boat blown ashore by the winds of chance? The series combines cutting edge science, the latest archaeology and superb visuals to bring this enthralling topic to our screens for the first time.

Unfortunately I missed the first episode last night, but RTÉ being the leftist lying organisation that it is I can guess that it's yet another we're all from Africa therefore we're all the same load of nonsense.

"Blood of the Irish" - whatever.

Doesn't sound like your typical Irish colleen now does she?

Zlata Filipović (born 3 December 1980)[1] is the author of the book Zlata's Diary.

From 1991 to 1993, she wrote in her diary (called "Mimmy") about the horrors of war in Sarajevo, through which she was living. Some news agencies and media outlets labeled her the "Anne Frank of Sarajevo". Unlike Frank, however, Zlata and her family all survived and escaped to Paris in 1993 where they stayed for a year. She attended St. Andrew's College, Dublin senior school, going on to graduate from the University of Oxford in 2001 with a BA in human sciences, and now lives in Dublin, Ireland.

Doesn't Irish legend speak of the Irish being descended from Thracians or some sort of Iranic peoples?
I guess it would make sense, considering that Irish look most like the continental Cromagnoids and Northern Pontids, than anyone else.

As for being bushmen, I haven't seen any breaking evidence that supports that theory...

The Book of Conquests places Irish origins in modern Galicia in the north of Spain. The Milesians descended from a fellow by the name of Breogan, who was said to have built a tower in Brigantium (A Coruña) from which could be spotted Ireland.

As you may have guessed, this is the story I favour. Naturally, it can be assumed that certain details were created to fill the blanks, but I put more credence in the wisdom of my ancestors than many.

It should be said however, that the Lebor Gabala was by no means uncontested in its day.

I can't recommend enough that you read T.F. O'Rahilly's Early Irish History and Mythology, to hear about the rival versions, and the reasons behind LG becoming the dominant one (very political, actually).
