Russians and Jews have a very limited scope of what they're good at. East Asians really just copy and and manufacture, they aren't innovators.

The thing is though that the most decadent ideologies, from scientific racism to deconstruction, postmodernism etc. originated in the 'West'.

The Silk Road held up longer than most of these modern roads do. We can go on and on. My point is modern tech is not always the best.

They develop more than any other European country today but I would argue in recent history the Brits and French might just top them. Italy too if you go back a little further.

Either way, the inventions of Johannes Gutenberg (from Mainz), Thomas Newcomen (from Devon) and Etienne Lenoir (from the now Belgian part of Luxembourg) seem important. But who knows?
