Perhaps because your people didn't mixed with the later west Asiatic migrants from Anatolia and Iran that changed the genepool of the Levant. Pretty much. I mean, the fact is that despite Egyptians are North Africans, they're genetically belong to the same cluster as Palestinians and other Southern Levantines which is part of the middle east genetic cluster rather than belonging to the NA cluster like Berbers and so on.

because NorthAfricans are more proto-semitic than actual Semites. Near East is heavily CHG/West_Asian shifted. Proto-semitic does not equal semitic.
