    Default How Genes work?

If the mother is mostly Scottish and Irish. And the father is mostly Irish with some German/Central European. Is it possible for the child to be more German/Central European than the father, and maybe even distant Italian - from ancestors 6/7 generations back (on mother's side)? How far back (generations) can the child inherent distant genes from ancestors through their parents? I do not understand how pure Irish/Scottish parents (except little German/Central European in father) can produce a child who is Alpine Central European looking?

It can but it's less likely. Think of it as shuffling the cards.

Might be. We know that your father has Central European ancestry. Your mother also might have a distant Central European ancestry but an unknown one. So, your parents’ Central European ancestry might have met inside your DNA and then this might be the reason you look more Alpine than both your father and mother.
