Well, Israel is actually very well-off in comparison to her neighbors. It weathered the global recession very well, has a steady GDP growth and a high living standards for most. It doesn't sound like a very bad deal for a region that was once filled with a whole lot of nothing.

There is an old proverb that says that Jews bring prosperity and take it when they leave. The funny thing is that the people who used it knew that correlation does not mean causation -- Jews simply prefer to live in stable and civilised societies. That they re now abandoning areas such as the Netherlands or southern Sweden is not a good sign at all.

I think you got a point. There was a lot of Jews in Poland and Poland was quite poor country because of communist. Poland is closer to rich countries than poor countries. Its not very rich as Usa or Germany but richer than Argentina or Mexico.

Well, like any immigrants, Jews prefer well-off countries and countries with an easy social ladder for non-natives. Poland/Lithuania was such a country in the Middle Ages, so was Persia, the US became that in the early 20th century. Some countries weren't that well-to-do per se, but didn't impose difficult social barriers, such as the Latin American countries.

Well I'm sure it can have an effect, depending on the Jewry in question. For example, after the expulsion of Jews from Iberia, many of them migrated north, to The Netherlands, to England, and during that same general time, the economic balance shifted in favour of the North. You might want to check out Werner Sombart's The Jews and Modern Capitalism, if you're interested in the subject. Unless you just want to read half-assed guesstimates from internet people.
