Default "The anthropological features of Armenian and Assyrian (Aissori) women."

    For anyone interested.

The anthropological features of Armenian and Assyrian (Aissori) women
    By C.U. ARIËNS KAPPERS

The same resemblance existing between the Armenian and Assyrian males, the relations with both sexes point to a common origin of the Armenians and Aissori.

The stock from which both peoples originate is the Subarean or Ponto-Zagrian stock (E. SPElSER 2), to which the proto-Armenians (Hittites) and probably the majority of the ancient Assyrians belong.

Of the anthropological status of the Hittites and ancient Assyrians little is known since hitherto no skulls of these peoples are found with certainty.

The only way to know something about their somatic, especially cephalic features is to study ancient sculptures and mural engravings.
And, for those curious, "Aisor," is what the Armenians call us. As they have, throughout the many centuries. We call the Armenians, "Armānī." As we have, likewise, since antiquity.

to which the proto-Armenians (Hittites) and probably the majority of the ancient Assyrians belong.
How exactly are Armenians Hittites now? An Indo-European people like the Hittites would of largely been north-Europid and the Armenians are some of the least north Europid people in that region. Armenian language is probably an extreme example of elite dominance.

I personally disagree with him regarding the Hittite comment, but agree with the general statement of a principal origin in the general neighborhood (albeit to the east, and somewhat to the south).

Edit: Some Y-DNA data, I recently came across:

Subrace? Sorry, mate. Not really sure. Perhaps one of the fellas more familiar with physical anthropology can weigh in. FWIW, this is how the Armenians and Assyrians compare according to v3 Dodecad K=12, and the "average" face of an Assyrian man I created, including a few more for comparison.
    Code:
    Component	ARM	ASY
“European”	31.9	27.3 (Nearly entirely Med.)
    “African”	0.2	0.0
    “East Asian”	0.2	0.3
    “South Asian”	1.6	2.2
    "SW Asian”	12.2	19.4
    “W Asian”	54	50.6
    Primary Y-DNA hg is R-L23 (R1b1a2a)*
    Sub-Saharan/East Asian mtDNA hg = 0%

*The modal haplotype of our principal R1b cluster is more similar to R1b types downstream of R-L23. One can see the relationship quite clearly by the recent trees created by Marko, on DNA-Forums. An image is attached. The Assyrian representative of the principal Assyrian R-L23 cluster is 205749. The relationship between Assyrians and Europeans is likely millennia removed. Who knows, it may even predate our Assyrian identity. As the paper attached in my original post correctly points out, we are principally (as with the Armenians) of Subarean stock, with a minority Arabian (of a non-African variety) component.

The elements shown are mostly Armenoid, some with other (especially Iranid and Alpinoid) tendencies.

    Thank you, Agrippa.

Updating the side-by-side, I found this composite of a Kurd (mostly of Turkish Kurds, I believe) at AnthroScape.

The Armenian is Armenid in this comparison, the Assyrian morph more progressive Armenoid with Iranid influences.

    Ponto-Zagrian/Pontus-Zagros type = Armenoid.
