The Nazis also were not concerned with the so called 'white race'. I am not a Nazi but 'whiteness' seems to me to be obviously an American concept.

Sorry, mate , I am not understanding your point since he wrote that in context of the Filipino–American War, within the American paradigm, and that had to do with Filipinos not other Europeans e.g. Hungarians.

He was British and not trying to seem American. It was British imperial doctrine that whites and their civilization are superior and that whites have as their duty to civilize other races.

Neither. I am just saying they are white Europeans and that the concept of 'whiteness' if you will is European in origin, not American or just American.

It's true that Americans have called themselves white more than Europeans, because they have always lived in a multi-racial country, but the concept is European and Europeans also call themselves that when contrasting oneself with 'people of color'.

Ok, mate, the Nazis were concerned with what their idea of the ideal German race should be like and British people are also Germanic but we don't look like the Germans but Hungarians are not a Germanic people. There is no consensus on what 'whiteness' means.
