I was a computer system administrator and the job included some programming (mostly scripting languages) so I decided to deep dive into programming and now I am a computer programmer. I went to college for computer information systems , at a state university , but found it to be a waste of my time and dropped out. Anyone, with an IQ of 125 or higher can essentially train themselves to do anything. More and more computer programmers are self-taught every year.
Our 2016 Developer Survey found that 56% of developers [computer programmers] in fact do not have a college degree in computer science or related fields. The most popular way for developers to learn is by “self-teaching” in some way (69% of respondents told us they were at least partially self-taught; 13% said they were entirely self-taught).
