    So I guess it's a matter of defining borders: Should Ireland and northern France be regarded as Germanic?

    That's almost like asking if Catalunya should be regarded as Spanish. Depends who you ask.

    I have difficulty seeing Germanic and Nordic as being distinct; I'm thinking that perhaps Alex does too.

    Lol. Fortunately the situation of Catalan in Catalonia is far from being that of Irish in Ireland, despite them having a state of their own.

    Nordic is a subset of Germanic i think.

    Totally agree. I can only consider Nordic the Icelanders, the Faroese, the Norwegians, the Danes and the Swedes, although I'm aware of the closeness of some peoples south of that line because of historical influence.

    You cannot be serious. Dolphins and seals are still being sacrificed by Scandinavians. It is Celts who have the natural affinity with animals.
