My opinion is that bulgarians in look are between Central Eastern europeans and Southern Europeans. Some could pass as North Eastern Europeans, but North western types are absent

Bulgarians are pred. Mediterranid in race, of the Pontid variety most often but then again it's difficult to seperate this type from say, the Atlanto-Mediterranid. There's a good deal of overlapping.
Dinarids can also be found, but more so in the Northwest. At least it's not a major element as a whole or when compared to ex-Yugoslavia or Romania.
Ost-Alpinid and Baltid strains are also prominent. Quite often I would say they appear as a secondary element.
I think that most Bulgarians look similar to Serbs just that the latter tend to have longer faces, which is hardly a surprise given that the Dinarid strain is stronger there. Also I think that Bulgarians, owing to Mediterranid tendencies, have more curvooccipital/dolichocephalic skulls, while this trait is perhaps slightly less encountered in Serbia. Although it seems that the younger generation tend not to have flattened skulls.
Regards.
