Do you own an M1 garand, I am debating getting one would like to talk to someone who owns one.

I do not own a Garand, but have shot them; got my thumb mashed, too, 1st time I tried reloading one.

It is heavy (about 10# empty), rugged, reliable and a good shooter.

When I was in high school, I volunteered at the Springfield (Massachusetts) Armory Museum. I got to help the conservator clean many of the historical pieces, like Garand #1 (which was essentially hand made) and #87, which was the first off the regular assembly line.

My paternal grandmother was an M1 barrel inspector during WW2.

BTW, if anyone has "interesting" impressions about firearms, ammunition and their effects upon living beings...I am quite the iconoclast vis a vis "super guns."

In the 1980s i read Guns&Ammo magazine, at the back of the magazine Colonel Jeff cooper did his article, he often wrote about "El Presidente drill," what do you know of this, and have you had experience of using it? up

Also i have read that years ago ammunition was tested on dead goats in America, this was changed to testing on gelatine, which in your opinion was the more effective in scientifically tissue damage testing?

And last,but definitely not least,my most beautiful gun,a Smith&Wesson 17-6,also in .22 lr.This gun is almost as accurate as the Buckmark,but more reliable (it goes bang every damn time).A classic and the first firearm I got.A great target gun:
