I think humans are meant to live in small groups, I don't think it's natural for so many people to live close together. I think culture isn't made by large cities, it is destroyed by them.

Yes without any doubt, this is seen everywhere in the world. In Morocco the biggest degenerates come from the cities, they are mixed with everything and tend to whore their daughters out, I think the same can be said about other countries. The people who live in the countryside and in tribal areas tend to be more conservative and more religious, while the ones living in the cities live like degenerates, half-breeds and have no social order.

I have lived almost all of my life in big cities.

Yes. Although you would also get a lot of village idiots who aren't educated enough to not follow every new degenerate trend, urban people tend to live with the illusion that they are independent and distrust each other. This makes them vulnerable to hedonistic cults and groups of educated outsiders to tune them their way.

Most of our evolution our ancestors spent living in extended families where everyone was related to everyone. Interactions with non-relatives were very rare and most times quite violent. That's what our endocrine system was designed to regulate.

Later people expanded elements of relationships within families on larger society which allowed non-related groups to unify. But the larger society grows the harder it is for mechanisms intended for smaller groups to regulate our relationships. It's dialectic process of bringing people together and pulling them apart at same time.

In larger cities the moral ties that normally hold people in check become irrelevant, alienation of humans is rampant, people can do ugly things to each other, things deemed unthinkable within a traditional family, and get away with it.

So far no society was able to develop mechanisms to counter these effects. More to that many individuals found ways to use the situation to their advantage and profit on misery of others. The whole new layer of establishment formed out of that, their very power depends on maintaining things as they are now.

Cities were, are and will always be more liberal than rural areas. People living/migrating there value more liberal/career/commercial things, also even those city dwellers that are more conservative can be influenced by their surrounding atmosphere. The extent to which cities will develop from liberal to an unhealthy degenerate level depends on the general culture of the country/nation/region they belong. Cities in Middle East will never resemble San Francisco. On the other hand, when you host Hollywood you are bound to attract millions of drug-addicted hippies/actors/singers which develops an environment that attracts more of this type. If left unchecked, it leads to downfall like ancient Rome. The question is, how hard will the fall impact humanity? If it leads to WWIII, with nuclears humanity is definitely going extinct.

It depends on the size of the city. Smaller cities don't get as bad as larger ones. It's easy to blend in the crowd and follow whatever whim you may have.

yea i think at least the illusion of anonymity creates room for people to act on their immoral desires.

Totally agree, cities are very transient places, with students, immigrants and trendies living jowl to jowl.

There is little sense of real community in cities, and this leads to mass ideas
