That lack of exogamy for such a long time must have had some bad side effect, for example the increase of hereditaty genetic disorders and similar, as has happened in Finland, where due to vast territory and lack of population people were thinking that it is safe to marry with someone 500 km away while it would later prove that they are related (through church register books) and kids would inherit bad hereditary diseases that in the end killed their common ancestor...There was some BBC documentary about it ...

That's bad they should start outcrossing and marry from other parts of Italy.

In Bosnia, Croatia, Serbia people stick to strict exogamy with exception of few isolated areas, its been part of tradition for centuries, I call my 2nd and 3rd cousins brothers and sisters, and even 5th-6th-7th to the 9th cousin, as they say, are not appropriate for marriage. Usually grandmothers take care of transfering the knowledge to the next generation about who is related to whom and about all the related families.

I am not referring to you but to some foreign user that everytime that sees a fair Italian writes that he/she is northern Italian. These peoples are from other regions. Maybe it's immature but with stupid people you must speak in a stupid way. I have never written that Italy is blonde but that there are many blondes too and the number of blondes found in Italy cannot be compare with that of some non-European countries.

Yes, IMHO the entire thought/concept/or wacked-out theories of some that fair-haired Italians are always Northern Italians is ridiculous. There are plenty of people in the Veneto who are dark and I have relatives in Southern Italy who are blonder than some of my pure Nordic relatives.

Of course, brunette are common among North Italians, but if we are compare who is lighter and the answer is North Italians. I see you have Polish root. I'm pretty sure Southern Poles are as light as North Italians.

Italians are usually medium to dark, sometimes very tanned-skinned, as a a rule and blonds are only slightly more common north of Rome.

The highest Italian light hair and eye frequencies are found in some pockets of the Alps. From my knowledge and direct experience, Northern Italians are, on average, somewhat lighter than their central and northern counterparts but not dramatically. The large majority of Italians from the north are hardly Nordic in appearance.

And I realize that there has been substantial immigration from south to north in recent decades, but this has had little effect on northern phenotypes. If you look at the percentages of light hair and eyes in N.
