Default What makes a person appear inbred?

I’ve often heard people saying that so and so (usually a male) looks inbred. And it’s usually someone who is ugly. The thing is, what separates an inbred looking person from just a plain ugly one?

i’ve not seen many inbred people, to my knowledge, but the few that i’ve seen look “off”. i consider ugly to be an imbalance of facial features. inbred kind of looks weirdly intense. take charles habsburg ii for instance. he is kind of ugly, based on his portraits, but his look is really intense in a weird way.

there tends to be physical deformities with inbred people, but i don’t know how often one has to inbreed for that to take effect.

I usually associate it with facial deformities. It’s also a common thing to associate with country red necks in Texas.

Odd head shapes, assymetry, certain exaggerated features are all common 'symptoms'.

Are rednecks frequently inbred or is that just a stereotype? I have only heard of inbreeding cases in remote parts of Appalachia and nothing outside of that.

It’s a stereotype. It’s really just used as a derogatory term for poor country folks
