Are Tatars White?

The ones that live near the Volga river. I have not gotten a clear answer on this.

Volga Tatars are mostly white
Volga Bulgars lived in that region before the tatar invasions...

They are predominantly white but might have minor Mongoloid admixture.. nevertheless on average they definitely lean toward the Caucasoid side, no?

The question that should be asked is...do they THINK of themselves as white? I dont know. I dont live in russia so i cant answer that question,what i do know is that if someone looks european(can pass)then i dont really care about 5-10% mongoloid admixture that they may have. Then again i may be biased,since i come from the south where everyone has a little "injun" in them(my grandmother says "everyone in the souths got some native american in us...where do you think we came from?

)

I think all these "------- is white?" questions can be answered by saying "do the people at large look at you/them as white?".

Genetics play a role,there is no doubt about that. Although i think genetics only go so far in shaping ones identity. Why should a 90-95% white tatar(do such tatars exist?) NOT think of themselves as european? Because genetically they are 5% mongoloid?

Thats laughable.

Yea I have no idea if they look white. Some people say that modern day Kazan Tatars have nothing in Common with the mongols of the Golden Horde. Others say they have assimilated with Russians so much so they look like europeans but Im not sure.

I don't know, but I think a great deal of tatars would fit what most would deem white; that is phenotipically speaking:

However some look like this:

I don't think "White" is a term they consider important, socially speaking.

Do they think of themselves as white? If i met one of them on the streets i would never know. I just cant imagine somone looking so european and not thinking of themselves as such.

I think they just see themselves a tatars. I know Russians don't call them black-asses or churkas like Caucasus people or Central asians.

Yeah but so many look so european....its weird. I cant imagine being like 90% euro and just thinking of myself as (insert minority here). Then again it really all depends on how you are raised and in what culture.
