Yes, these are common where I live from March to November, although sometimes you see them on the warmer winter days.

It happened a few times, my dog chase them.
It can be found in France on the med coast where i live now. I don't remember seeing them where i grew up, however some have been found as far north as Grenoble since 2018, supposedly due to climate change.

En France on le trouve près des côtes mais également plus à l'intérieur (Provence, Corse,…). Avec le réchauffement climatique, il est signalé en 2018 à Grenoble

No, but when I lived in India, I encountered one once.

I've seen salamanquesas (what we call the Tarentola Mauritanica) in Galicia, in a city there called Vilagarcía de Arousa, and the Med house gecko in Vigo. In regards to the Basque Country, I've only been in the winter to Donosti and Bilbao so not exactly the best person to ask.

I believe the ones that your dogs chased seem to be a different species to the ones that I posted which are the common/tropical house geckos of Asia?
That's interesting. So I guess they will move even more north if climates get even warmer. When I studied in Ohio in Midwest USA, I never see any geckos at all despite living there for four years. Seems like geckos are mainly restricted to southern parts of US like Florida, Texas, California or places like Hawaii, etc.
