Not to disagree (you're probably right broadly speaking), but do you know of any studies/investigations/etc. that have been done that might confirm this?

Unfortunately, no - which is a large part of the reason why I prefaced the whole thing with "as far as I can tell". I made that judgement largely because I've spent enough time on the internet to understand the psychology of a troll as well as understand their numbers in relation to other people who commit acts of vandalism, and I've also known a number of anti-Semites, some of them skinheads, who specifically criticise "spray-paint vandalism" as "half-assed" or some variation on those words. They endorse vandalism, but of Jewish and other minority-run businesses, rather than personal threats against individual Jews. they also as a general rule favour violent vandalism over vocal vandalism: i.e. they want to destroy, not merely to paint. I can criticise Neo-nazis for many things (and I do, frequently) but they are generally quite honest and frank about both their beliefs and their methods. I can only conclude after seeing several stories like the OP that the gap between vandals who are just being trolls and therefore not given to any real destruction and the neo-Nazis who form the exception to the rule I have just mentioned must be filled with Jews who are crying wolf.

If offered significant evidence to the contrary, my judgement is not set in concrete, but it seems reasonable to me. Many Jews (I will not say "the Jews" because I do not consider this a universal trait) need to be victims to satisfy themselves psychologically - much like Negroes (e.g. that Harvard professor who caused a media circus over "police brutality"). The fact that they have transformed the Nazi genocide from a historical occurrence into an Ethnic Mythos speaks volumes to this need: they find their identity in a culture of victimhood.
