In this run he can be molded as 50% Southwest French\Basque. While this doesn't necessarily mean that he has Spanish ancestry it might help understand why it picks it up.
The bourgeoisie has through its exploitation of the world-market given a cosmopolitan character to production and consumption in every country. To the great chagrin of Reactionists, it has drawn from under the feet of industry the national ground on which it stood.

    Absolutely.
DNA companies lack of regionally localized samples and, because of it, they probably catch common genetic substrate.

Probably dark blue = 'French & German' on 23 and me, Yellow gets some Iberian (native pre-Celtic Aquitainian), and pink gets some British & Irish.

He could be "spanish" from basque family members or he could be catalonian where they border with france.

Basque region is within both france and spain.
Catalans have french heritage also because of the holy roman empire and its invasion into catalan to fight the moors there.

In any case the real answer lies in who he actually shares dna with and paper trail. These kind of things like gedmatch population scores are more like gimmicks honestly

    Spoiler!
It is interesting that the French continue to obtain a decent "foreign" percentage after the update, the overwhelming majority of Iberians are close to 100% Iberian.

I do have a grandparent with a Spanish surname that's Isleño according to Wikipedia. But, still skeptical about 30%.

    Awesome!

I don't have any problem with Spanish. But, my grandparents' first language was French. One of my great-grandparents spoke only French. If I was 30% Spanish, seems like family would have told me before 23andMe did.

The only good things about 23andme is you can download the data and connect with distant cousins but you need to go to a more competent 3rd party, such as eurogenes, which you apparently did, for better results on ancestry.

Unfortunately, most people who buy a kit from 23andme don't know this.

Would you happen to know of any other coordinates or calculators I can use to confirm the Swiss/Northeast French Eurogenes results?

    It's a native thing, the basque-like.

You have some basque sample in the "iberian" category, like spaniard.

    I think it's a basque-like component.
