What would the world look like today had Hitler never attacked Poland?

Nazis won't stay off this thread. It's like a moth to a flame.

Anyhow, I'm going to go with option one as the world war would either have not happened or would have taken a different, more limited form. Without war losses and with NS Germany standing as a non-violent bulwark of racialism, egalitarians would have been much more likely to be contained.

I think if anything it is that Nazi sympathizers will want to avod the heat. It's going to be hard to argue that we wouldn't be better off had Hitler not attacked Poland, and as a point of interest this particular question is rarely or never discussed in nationalist circles. It's always or almost always something to the effect of 'if only the brave Knights of the Reich defeated the perfidious Jews and Allies we'd be living in splendor'..

Time for a different approach.

You mean the standard Holocaust victim/survivor dribble that we have heard over the past 70 years. It's funny that there are so many fraudsters among those people as most of those survivors were never in the camps. The kind of dribble that makes a complete mockery out of the suffering undergone by all sides.

While the world would doubtless be better off had Germany not invaded Poland in September of '39, its also fair to say that the world would be a lot better off had Britain, France,* Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and India not declared war on Germany over the issue.

*Although France, unlike those others, had great reason to fear an expansionist Germany, so I don't blame them to the extent I blame Britain and her Dominions.

The only mistakes Hitler made in those early years were to march on Prague while he had already the German-speaking regions of the Sudetenland and to march beyond the ethnic-language borders between the German minority and the Poles. He should have deported the Poles living in that area but he probably went on because he didn't want a trench war.

And Britain and France shouldn't have gotten involved. It's not the Poles and the Czechs had clean hands. They were covered in German blood as it was.

How would there be a Holocaust issue before us with no invasion of Poland? D'oh!
