Have never heard that before, had to look up where Thursday Island is. In Australia to refer to somewhere in the middle of nowhere people say they're in/going to Woop Woop, which isn't a real place.
    Spoiler!

Heh, close neighbours of mine are TI’s:

Even though I live in an Anglosphere in a general/mainstream sense, TI-sphere at times has been where all my planets have lined up and I have felt reconnected to Life, Universe and Everything. This is because their culture is largely intact, alive and strong. They still know/remember who they are and how everything connects to everything else in Nature and how we are a part of all that.

    "A Sebastopol "

    "A Siberia"

"Al polo Norte" = (North Pole)

Maybe also "Tombuctú" or "Honolulu" as some already said.

    Without geographical references:

"Al quinto pino" = "to the fifth pine"
"A tomar por culo"="to be fucked by the ass" (yes this also means "really far")
"A donde Cristo perdió el mechero"= Where Christ lost the lighter"

Locally in the city where I was born it´s said "A casa Cachán"= "to Cachán house", that was a small building in a remote cul-de-sac street

Ca vient de Tataouine : Actual city in Tunisia, nobody knows it is when using this phrase, meaning it's an unknown distant and bizarre location (also star wars inspired)

A Trifouilly-Les-Oies : Imaginary countryside village, meaning something like "where you would mess with gees", as in it's so in the middle of nowhere, it's the only the thing you would find there.

Va te faire voir chez les Grecs : more or less, go fuckyourself with the Greeks

In DR, what expression would you use to perjoratively refer to a group of people as "that lot"?
