No, England is just puppet of USA, if they are staying then the american influence would have been bigger in EU for sure. Continental european hegemony for germans and the other parts of world for english, it was always the "deal". Im happy that England is not EU member anymore, i dont like atlantism and the anglo-saxon influence in Europe because its closely related to american culture which is harmful to various unique european cultures that should be preserved.

True, but i think England has everything to became the leader state of EU if they would stayed. It was interesting to see that England has never tried this way.

English is this era's lingua franca, but if I had the option to be understood by other peoples using a different language, I'd surely do it.

Problem is that you would not ignore them-us. Palestinians, Chinese, Argentines, Spaniards, Chileans, Tanzanians, Indians, Australian aborigenes, Irish, French, Mexicans, etc etc did not speak English, yet you put your noses there.

There's something nobody ever addresses in these sorts of debates about the EU: everything started going sideways after the eastern expansion in 2004 (in terms of timing). It might have been a coincidence , but I have my doubts.

To gain more influence in the EU the UK would have had to accept the Euro, Schengen, etc. This would have been political suicide for any government, though I'm sure that Tony Blair, for example, would have done it if he could.

I think one other major reason for the EU to be destroyed is the following:

The complete loss of sovereignty. The Union now shows full intentions on becoming a federation in the German style(of course), and thus, the national sovereignty of member states, which has already been decreased, will now be completely lost. The current discussions for the creation of a common EU army is just the first stage.

Then, it's the obvious fact that almost all the government inside the EU, especially France with the utterly loathsome Macron and the bald eggman called Scholz, are showing absolute hatred towards the nation-state and seek to destroy anything that resembles a sovereign nation itself.
