Did Ireland have any flag in the past or was it only in the provinces?

Irish tend to be big on their county and province flags.

St Patrick's Saltire also called St Patrick's Cross (or Cross of St Patrick) was the first true national flag of Ireland, in that it was a uniquely Irish symbol, used to represent the Kingdom of Ireland as a unique entity, rather than part of England.

Not really. I have lived in several places in the UK, so I feel primarily British above all. I do miss Lancashire though.

Where in East Anglia are you based? We share the same county regiment so we're neighbours in my eyes.

Western Herts, eastern Suffolk. Not so close then.

My bf lives in Herts, i definitely recommend Suffolk instead.

The delight that is Stevenage.
I've got used to all the flatness now, it makes for big skies and a feeling of expansiveness. Plus there are far fewer people round here, which I appreciate.
