Humor is overrated

Being humorous is not a virtue. It does not immediately make you a good person or grant you additional rights and protections. It doesn't indicate a person is intelligent, right, or should be listened to. Are there comedians whose incisive social criticism elevates them to the status of modern-day philosophers? Yes. Is the jester allowed to inform the monarch that his headgear is hideous? Yes. Is it OK to be "edgy" or "offensive" at shows/venues/stages, etc.? Yes. Is everything they say made of gold? No. Do we have to agree to whatever they say without making THEM feel uncomfortable? No.

Stay cool if a joke offends someone. It is not a sin to be bored. So what if they actually lack a sense of humor? A sense of humor is not so valuable and noble that its absence is detrimental. The world is not a stand-up comedy club.

If someone tells the incorrect joke at the incorrect moment, they must apologize and make apologies. Don't have a fit because "omg lighten up it was a joke!!!!!!" Do they not recognize the irony here? They're outraged that someone is offended, and they're urging them to stop for some reason? Furthermore, no one is threatening them with jail or a permanent record. They are not going to prison. Being defensive and exploding because someone didn't appreciate or was offended by your joke is a sign of weakness.

We place much too much value and significance on humor and comedy.

Humor is impromptu intelligence therefore it is appreciated, some people might get confused with modern lowbrow popular memes for humors. Humor is automatically the right and wise use of intelligent jokes that make people happy during the process of the right sort of discussion or creative activities.
