That's true, but then again, Seppo > Teuvo > Veltto.

Just something that I remembered today while watching TV...

The person who provided the swing vote that allowed Pennsylvania to vote in favour of the United States Declaration of Independence was a bloke called John Morton. Would you guess who his great-grandfather was, and where he might have come from?

That's right: Martti Marttinen (later anglicized as Morton) from Rautalampi, Savonia.

So, are there any Tavastians out there who have been involved in a creation of a superpower?

I wonder, is O.W. Kuusinen also Savonian? His birth place, Laukaa, is suspiciously close to the Savonian heartlands...

    5 Stages of Grief:

Denial: The initial stage: "It can't be happening." Maniot is on top of me.
Anger: "Why ME? It's not fair?!" (either referring to God, oneself, or Maniot perceived, rightly or wrongly, as "responsible")
Bargaining: "Just let me stay to post another day Maniot, please."
Depression: "I'm so sad, why are you picking on me Maniot?"
Acceptance: "It's going to be OK." There is always Skadi.

Well, it depends. As every true KalPa fan knows, the whole keskisuomalainen identity of eg. JYP fans is just a bluff: they are just mongrelised descendants of Savonians in disguise

But seriously speaking, even without O.W. Kuusinen I have to admit that the track record of Savonians in politics is disastrous. As a matter of fact, Otto-Wille was a true Finnish patriot when compared to for example these walking disasters:

    - Olli Rehn
    - Jyrki Katainen
    - Paavo Lipponen
    - Martti Ahtisaari

Kekkonen makes up for it. And isn't Ahtisaari more Karelian than Savonian?

That's true: I kind of always thought that he was Savonian, since he went to the same high school as eg. Lasse Lehtinen, Paavo Lipponen and yours truly did: Kuopion Lyseon lukio. Not to mention the greatest Lyseo student of all time: Spede! Rumours tell it that he once got 2 from a German exam (the Finnish scale is 4-10), and he did eventually leave to Iisalmi after having five 4s in his report card. He was laughing about this when he was selected as the former Lyseo student of the year back in 1996, I guess as a kid he didn't really expect to receive that award some day
